Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Accounting and Financial Specialist for a critical public sector role with the State of Indiana in Indianapolis, IN. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of complex financial record-keeping, bookkeeping, and customer service program duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:Maintain official agency financial records and certify their accuracy.
Handle accounts payable, validate and approve invoices, and process vouchers for payment.
Assist in the preparation, control, and monitoring of the agency budget.
Reconcile transactions, post and process encumbrances and expenditures, and ensure proper fund distribution.
Check requisitions for quality, quantity, and price per Quantity Purchase Award contracts.
Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
Handle vendor database maintenance, procurement, and contract procedures.
Manage reception, call flow routing, and professional communication with diverse stakeholders.
5+ years of professional experience in recordkeeping, bookkeeping, and financial transactions .
5+ years of hands-on experience in accounts payable and voucher processing .
5+ years of experience assisting with budget preparation, control, and financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual).
5+ years of knowledge and experience in procurement and contract procedures .
Must be eligible to be bonded .
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desired: Prior experience with PeopleSoft Financials and auditing systems.
